How to Store Chocolate the Right Way
To keep chocolate at its best, keep it away from heat and humidity. Store it at a cool, stable temperature.

Storing chocolate well is a small art of its own. Improper storage can spoil both flavour and texture. Follow a few simple principles and you'll enjoy your chocolate exactly as it should be.
Where should chocolate be stored?
Chocolate is best kept somewhere cool and dry, away from direct sunlight. The fridge isn't ideal, as it can cause the chocolate to bloom and lose flavour. A dark spot with a stable temperature of around 18-20°C is preferable.
How do you protect chocolate from moisture?
Moisture is chocolate's natural enemy. Wrap it well in airtight packaging to prevent it from absorbing moisture, which can alter its texture and dull its quality.
How long can chocolate be stored?
Chocolate has a relatively long shelf life. To keep it at its freshest, it's best consumed within a year of production, under proper storage conditions. Our ORO products, including our bars and specialty textures, keep best under these same conditions.
Can chocolate be frozen?
Freezing chocolate generally isn't recommended, as it can change the texture. If freezing is unavoidable, store it in an airtight package and thaw it gradually in the fridge before eating.
How can you tell if chocolate has gone bad?
Chocolate that has developed a white coating or lost its glossy sheen may have undergone a change in texture. That said, if the taste and aroma are still intact, it's generally still fine to eat. In any case, those with sensitivities should take care: our chocolate may contain nuts, peanuts, milk, soy and gluten.
